Companhia Paranaense de Energia-COPEL (COPEL) is an electric power company engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Brazilian State of Parana. As of December 31, 2004, COPEL generated electricity from 17 hydroelectric plants and one thermoelectric plant, with a total installed capacity of 4,550 megawatts.
